WAX MUSEUM LIMITS HOURS IN FEBRUARY WHILE CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES

Thermopolis - The Old West Wax Museum complex will close the remaining weekdays during February but will remain open on weekends and by special appointment.

The weekday closing will allow workers to complete construction of the
heating system, reconfigure heat flow and fine-tune adjustments on the
entire system. "We hope the adjustments can be made within the next two weeks," said Sue Blakey, spokesman for the museum. "The system arrived late in November, and work on it has been progressing. It is a big job because the wax figures and antique textiles require temperatures at lower levels than are comfortable for visitors and workers. This means the heating needs to be adjusted in different zones for those differences. We may have to move some larger items around, so it seems best to close during the week and give workers a chance to tackle the problem without any distractions. By opening on the weekend, we hope to accommodate out-of-town visitors. We will also work with any groups that need to schedule on specific dates on a daily basis."

The museum complex will be open Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 12 p.m.- 4 p.m. No special events or programs were scheduled for February. The March calendar of events -- including the Marta Amundson Quilt Show and quilting workshops planned for March 10-12 will continue as planned.
